WELCOME TO NUEVA SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS AT WINDSOR HIGH SCHOOL.
The goals, structure, and program philosophies of Nueva School for the Arts are quite unique in Sonoma County. We believe in the communal experience of art and ingenuity, and utilize the student led creativity as a shared language among our diverse student population. In Nueva we constantly challenge our young learners to think critically and employ creative solutions to traditional problems. Nueva attracts students with a desire to understand the world from new perspectives and explore their creative potential. We foster interests in the arts, but DO NOT believe skill and experience are prerequisites for participation. We aim to serve diverse populations and believe in academic differentiation, meeting the needs of at-risk and honors students alike. Our students are eager and engaged, and understand the role creativity and collaboration will have in the development of their own futures. For more information about the academics and classroom culture, please check out CURRICULUM tab.
Nueva students are given direct exposure to both hard and soft skills required for success in both collegiate programs, and the current California Arts Media and Entertainment job sector (a nearly Trillion Dollar industry in California’s economy). These skills are acquired through the elective courses:
Production Design 1 and 2
Participation in our TWO annual live stage productions,
A minimum of 40 hours Work Based Learning, combined through Junior and Senior year
